India’s recent success in weightlifting has prompted many youngsters, particularly girls, to take up the sport. Seeing Indian at the top of the podium at the Commonwealth Games has given the sport a new lease of life. Faridabad’s Mission Olympic Academy has seen its numbers rise tremendously.
A host of girls are joined the gyms and weightlifting academies in the city. They are breezing past the misconception that weightlifting is a male dominated sport. The exploits of Meerabai Chanu and Punam Yadav are well known. We hope this passion remains prominent among these youngsters.
