Inter-school tournaments get underway

District Level Inter-school tournament for under-14 and 17 years boys and girls in the disciplines of badminton, chess and table tennis got underway at Subhash Stadium and Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Udhampur, here on Thursday.
In badminton under-14 years category 73 students including 43 boys and 30 girls drawn from 19 schools took part and in table tennis girls u-14 and u-17 years categories ten girls drawn from three schools participated while in chess u-14 and u-17 years categories 23 girls drawn from seven schools of district Udhampur took part. The tournament is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K and the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur, Kharati Lal Sharma.

GIRLS Table Tennis under-14 yrs single: Sonika Devi of National Academy Udhampur emerged winner and Anusha of National Academy Udhampur runner up. Under-17 yrs single: Sonali Rajput of National Academy Udhampur emerged winner and Gungun of BBSV Peeth runner-up. Double: Sonali and Sayama of National Academy Udhampur emerged winner and Gungun and Subashraa of BBSV Peeth runner-up. Badminton Under 14 yrs: Anshula Arora of APS emerged winner and Sanskriti Thapa of APS runner-up. Chess under- 14 yrs: V. Lohitha of APS Udhampur winner and Ria of APS Udhampur runner-up. Under-17 yrs: Bhawna Sharma of AOC HSS Udhampur winner and Tiya of AOC Udhampur runner-up.
BOYS Badminton under-14 yrs: Arun Mengi of Sacred Era emerged winner and Raman of Brooklyn Mission Chenani runner-up.
