Indian Men’s Hockey Team will face Japanese Challenge in Asian Champions Trophy Semi-Final

Group stages ace ranked Hockey India Men’s Team will try to assure their positioning for the final match of 5th Men’s Hero Asian Champions Trophy when they will face ranked 16th team Japan in the semi-final.

The semi-final match will be played at the Sultan Qaboos Complex on Saturday. Defending Champions of the tournament India has remained unbeaten till now in the overall competition. Team India has won their 4 out of 5 encounters in the group matches with one draw and total 13 points.

Indian side started the tournament with mammoth win against Oman with 11-0 scoreline. In the last match India defeated arch rivals Pakistan with 3-1 points assuring spot in semi-final.

Indian Skipper Manpreet Singh in his talk before the match against Japan has said that “I think in the recent tournaments we have played this year, we have always started the competitions well but we have not been able to finish as well we would have liked. With an eye on the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar 2018, this Semi-Final encounter against a good Japanese side will give us the chance to peak at the correct time, and book a place in the Final,”

The highly anticipated match between India and Japan will be played from 22.40hrs IST. Spectators can access live broadcast of the match on Star Sports and Hotstar.
