Indian Junior hockey team plays 1 all drawn against hosts Belgium

The Indian Junior hockey team finished its game with 1 all drawn result against hosts Belgium in the third robin round match of the U-23 Five Nations Tournament.

Before the third match, India received mixed set of response for its debut and second match in the tournament as the young hockey professionals registered 5-0 win against Ireland but tasted negative result in the second match against Britain with scoreline 3-1.

However, Indian side played their 3rd match in the line-up with full enthusiasm as they showed attacking play during the dominant part of the game against hosts. Maintaining drawn result till the last phase of the game helped India to emerge as the better side against the home conditions advancement of Belgium.

The side’s deliberate attempt to score the opening goal of the match was rewarded with a succeed chance grabbed by Mohammad Umar in the 34th minute of the game.

In the third quarter of the match, unfortunately, India lost its grip over the advancement as Syril Frying attained cancellation of India’s goal with a fantastic set piece game in India’s zone.

Both the team entertained with a number of chances in the final quarter but none of the sides were lucky to score a goal and the game ended with the drawn result for both the teams.

India now needs to win crucial fourth encounter against the Netherlands to qualify a chance to play the final match of the tournament.
