India had a good day at the Archery Asia Cup being held in Bangkok. On the eve of women’s day, 2 women athletes from India clinched gold in their respective events. Muskan Kirar and Promila Daimary clinched gold medals in the women’s compound and recurve events respectively. Out of the 10 events on display, India managed to clinch gold in these two. To add to India’s medal tally, Madhu Vedwan bagged a bronze in the women’s recurve event. Gaurav Trambak Lambe was the only male to win a medal at the games when he picked up a bronze in the men’s compound event.

These performances come as a relief to the Indian side which has struggled in the past at the international stage. No Indian features in the top 10 of any World Archery Rankings except Deepika Kumari , currently ranked 5th in the women’s recurve category. With the CWG games being held in April, this win will be a major boost to the side.
