India knocked out of Sudirman Cup losing 3-0 to China

Team India bowed out of the Sudirman Cup after the first three matches itself as Mixed Doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Ashwini Ponappa, Kidambi Srikanth and Men’s Doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty lost their respective games to give China an unassailable lead of 3-0 on Friday.

With still two matches to go – PV Sindhu’s women’s singles match against He Bingjiao and Ashwini Ponappa-N. Sikki Reddy’s women’s doubles against Bao Yixin-Tang Jinhua, India can only hope to sign off on a good note.

The first match of the day was the mixed doubles between India’s Rankireddy-Ponappa and Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong and the Indian pair lost 21-16, 13-21, 16-21.

The second match of the tie was the men’s singles between Kidambi Srikanth between and Chen Long.

The India Open finalist Long brisked past Srikanth 21-16, 21-17.

Despite coming from a good win against Indonesian Jonaton Christie 21-15, 21-16, Srikanth was unable to reproduce the same performance.

The third match was men’s doubles match between India’s Rankireddy-Shetty and China’s Fu Haifeng-Zhang Nan.

The Chinese pair beat the inexperienced young Indian pair 21-9, 21-11.
