India Club tennis championship comes to a poignant end

The 22nd India Club-Anup Lahoty Open Tennis Championship came to an end with the finals of various categories being played in India Club Courts yesterday in Guwahati.

Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, Director General of Police, Assam was present in the closing function as chief guest. He along with India Club president Abani Baruah and secretary Biswadeep Bora gave away the prizes to the various winners and runner-ups. A special cash scholarship was given to the most promising player in memory of Tungabhadra Saikia, who was a member of India Club in the late sixties. Naman Bora and Nayanika Deka were adjudged the most promising boys and girls players respectively.

The final results: (Boys U-12) Ronuk Kashyap bt Partiv Kalita 6-2, 6-1; (Girls U-12) Roshni Bhardwaj bt Nikita Sonowal Kand 6-0, 6-0; (Boys U-14) Ved Aditya Kalita bt Pritam Barua 6-3, 6-1; (Girls U-14) Tania Kumari bt Nayanika Deka 6-4, 6-1; (Boys U-18) Arunesh Bora bt Promit Bordoloi 6-0, 6-0; (Girls U-18) Namrata Das bt Nayanika Deka 6-3, 3-6, 6-4; (Boys U-18 doubles) Anchit Gogoi/Kritanta Sarma bt Promit Bordoloi/Harshad Bora.
