India celebrates Independence Day, athletes across the country wish the nation

India is celebrating its 72nd Independence Day on Wednesday and prominent athletes up and down the country have taken to social networking sites to wish the nation.
Since gaining independence in 1947, India has been a prominent player in world sports and the country has had some magical moments in the last 71 years, moments that will never be forgotten.
On this memorable occasion Sachin Tendulkar led the wishes as India stepped into the 72nd year of independence. “Everything in life is hard-earned. Just like our independence. Among countless other things, there would have been no ‘Team India’ if not for the sacrifice of our brave freedom fighters. Let us not take that freedom for granted. #HappyIndependenceDay,” Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.
