Hosts GHG Khalsa College beat Chandigarh team

The Reliance Foundation Youth Football Championship started at GHG Khalsa College Gurusar Sadhar on Wednesday.
The hosts emerged winner in the first match of the championship by defeating SGGS College, Chandigarh, 2-1 in the men’s category. In the women’s category, Guru Harkrishan Public School, Sangrur, emerged winner by beating Government Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh, 4-1.
Teams from Punjab, Chandigarh and Dehradun are participating in the three-day championship. The team from GHG Khalsa College is representing Ludhiana city. Earlier, College Principal SS Deol visited as the chief guest during inauguration ceremony. He welcomed the visiting players and encouraged them to play with the spirit of sportsmanship.
According to Prof Tejinder Singh, Head, Post Graduation Department of Physical Education, all matches in the tournament would be played on league basis and the final match would be played on November 29.
