Hockey win registered by Jarkhar Academy and Ghawadi School

Jarkhar Hockey Academy and Ghawadi School XI registered victories to advance into the super league in the junior section in the 9th Olympian Prithipal Singh Hockey Festival being organised by Mata Sahib Kaur Sports Charitable Trust at Jarkhar village near here on Wednesday.

Jarkhar Academy prevailed over Nankana Sahib Public School, Amargarh, 10-8. Mehakdeep Singh, goalkeeper of the winning side was declared the man of the match.

Ghawadi School outplayed PPS School, Nabha, 4-2. Hardil of PPS School was adjudged man of the match.
In the senior section, Akalgarh XI and Grewal Club of Kila Raipur recorded victories to secure places in the semifinals.

Akalgarh XI beat Azad Club, Hathoor, 5-2 after leading 2-0 at the end of the second quarter while Grewal Club of Kila Raipur beating Young Club, Utala, 7-2
Kulwant Singh Sidhu, general secretary, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Amrik Singh Minhas, AIG, Patiala, advocate Kulwant Singh Boparai, Col Milkha Singh, Capt Satvir Singh Latala and Harbaksh Singh Grewal were guests of honour on the occasion.

Kulwant Singh announced an annual scholarship of Rs 12,000 to students of the village school who secured 83 per cent marks in Class X.
