Left-arm spinner Harshit Kaushik came up with a brilliant spell of six for 37 to guide Sporting Club to a comfortable victory over Collage Sports Club in the final of the 43rd Lala Raghubir Singh hot weather cricket tournament at the Modern School ground here on Tuesday.
Collage slipped from an imposing 140 for one to be dismissed for 190, losing the last eight wickets in a heap for 20 runs.
“We played some unwanted shots in the last overs,” said Collage captain Robin Bisht.
Sporting captain Yogesh Kumar said: “We adopted the strategy of attacking the wickets instead of defending.”
Century stand
Sporting Club was struggling at 67 for four at one stage, but a fifth-wicket stand of 123 runs between Mohit Ahlawat and Rohit Sharma prevented further alarm.
The winner took home a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh and the runner-up earned Rs. 1 lakh.

Collage Sports Club 189 in 35.2 overs (Sahbaz Ahamad 70, Jayanshu Chaturvedi 42, Harshit Kaushik six for 37) lost to Sporting Club 192 for four in 33.2 overs (Mohit Ahlawat 74 n.o., Rohit Sharma 59 n.o., Yash Kothari 32).
