Gurgaon becomes State Champion for the first time in 54 Years

Gurgaon became state champion for the very first time in the tourney’s history when the youngblood of Gurugarm, lifted the football tournament trophy at the 54th School Games. Alongside winning this tourney in Under-17 category, several players from Gurugram have now solidified their claim for a place in the national team. This football tourney was held from 9th September to 11th of September at Karnal stadium. Team Gurugram was so great that they dominated each of their match played and won each of them convincingly till the finals.

Coach Kunal Kumar and Dinesh Rawat also deserves credit for this amazing performance from the boys. In Pre Quarter-Finals Gurgaon clashed with Sonipat for the place in QFs and as the FT whistle blew, both teams were caged at a 2-2 draw. Match went to penalty shoot outs to break the deadlock between them, in which team Gurugram emerged victorious.

In Quarter Final team was up against Kurukshetra, but boys from Gurugram decimated the challenge of Kuruk boys as Gurugram emerged victorious by the margin of 3-0.

SF was also a one sided affair as team defeated Mahendragarh by 2-0.

Final took place between Gurugram and Bhiwani, in which boys never gave any chance to Bhiwani to control the game and as a result Team Gurugram completely dominated the final as they did all of their previous games and emerged victorious by a one-sided score line of 3-0.
