Gujarat and Mizoram now in quarter-finals of Football Championship

Hero Junior Girls’ National Football Championship taking place at Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Where in Gujarat and Mizoram won their respective last-round group matches yesterday and grabbed their position in quarter-finals. Gujarat registered a 3-0 win over Telangana in Group-F, Mizoram beat Kerala 4-2 in a Group-H encounter. Drishti Pant then scored in the 62nd minute to ensure a 3-0 win for Gujarat and a place in the quarterfinals.
The stakes were high as Mizoram and Kerala faced off in a virtual playoff and at the end of the 90 minutes, it was the side from the north-east that went through to the quarterfinals. Maharashtra the hosts ended their campaign with a 3-1 victory over Chandigarh in Group G. Priyanka Sujeesh scored a goal and Sai Sankhe scored 2 goals. After the break, Chandigarh bounced back as captain Antrika scored from the spot to reduce the gap, but Sai scored her second goal of the game in the 68th minute to secure three points for the hosts.
