GSC All-India Squash Open: Prithvi claims Under-19 title

Prithvi Singh of Chandigarh came from behind to beat Advait Adik in an intense final to win the boys’ U-19 title in the GSC All-India Squash Open in Mumbai on Friday. A Class 12 student of Strawberry Fields School, Prithvi won 8-11 11-9 11-8 9-11 11-9.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Prithi upset second seed Avinash Yadav of Maharashtra 11-6 11-4 11-5, while Adik toppled the state-mate and top seed Araash Mehta 11- 3 11-4 11-5. In the men’s category, top seed Abhishek Pradhan and second seed Abhishek Agarwal set up the title clash after beating their respective opponents with consummate ease in the semifinals. Pradhan defeated his Maharashtra teammate Aishwary Singh 11-9 11-5 11-3, while Agarwal, also from Maharashtra, outplayed state-mate Rohit Kadam 11-4 11-3 11-7. In the women’s competition, top seed Urwashi Joshi of Maharashtra defeated state-mate Prapti Salunke 11-3 11- 6 11-3 in the semifinals. In the final, she will face Maharashtra’s Navmi Sharma, who routed Mehak Gupta 11-0 11-1 11-4.
