GMSSS-22 eves win U-19 inter-school football title

Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, won the inter-school football U-19 championship here. The host team defeated Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, 3-0. Playing with the home advantage, they scored the opening goal in the 10th minute.
Gunpreet converted a free-kick from 20 yards to put his team ahead. Just two minutes later, Anchal doubled the lead. After taking a two-goal lead, their defenders played well to secure the lead.
In the second half, Gurpreet netted the third goal to confirm a comfortable win.
Meanwhile, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 21, claimed the third position by registering a 4-1 win on penalties against Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time to take the match’s fate to penalties. Laksasha scored the opening goal for the Sector 21 outfit, while Jyoti cancelled the goal in the dying minutes of the match for the Sector 37 team.
