First edition of the Indian Super Cup to begin on 15th March

The Indian Super Cup will replace the old Federations Cup from 2018. The matches will be played in a knockout format with the winners qualifying to the next stage. The first edition will take place in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa from the 15th March to 20th April 2018.

There will be a total of 16 teams in the main stage, which will be chosen from the I-League and Indian Super League- the two largest football competitions in the country. The Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar will play host to all the matches.

The All India Football Federation expects to draw a large number of people to watch the coveted cup. It is being marketed as the pinnacle of Indian football. There will be a qualifying round for lower ranked teams before the main stage.
