Faizabad defeats SSB to conquer state Handball championship

Faizabad Mandal became the winner of the state handball championship. In the title match, Faizabad defeated Service Selection Board (SSB) 25-22. The tournament ended on Sunday at Noida College of Physical Education, Dhoommanikapur. Team from Varanasi had to settle for the third position in the championship.
SSB and Faizabad Division fought hard in the title match. Both teams performed vigorously until the end of the match. Faizabad eventually won by a margin of three points. In the match played for third place, Varanasi defeated Moradabad Mandal 24-17. The teams from Uttar Pradesh participated in this tournament which was played for the duration of four days. Players will be selected for the national camp based on their performance in this competition. After which the state’s senior team will be formed. Indian Olympic Association treasurer Anandeshwar Pandey rewarded the winners. He said that every player has to work hard to reach the state level competition. He added players are expected to perform better in the future as well. NCPE Chairman Sushil Rajput, Dr. Benjamin Prakash, Dr. Prem Kumar, and many officials associated with the sports department were present on the occasion.
