District Level Inter-school Shooting Championship being organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA) commenced with the inaugural of the Summer Shooting Camp at International Delhi Public School (IDPS), here on Monday.

Participants from Delhi Public School, KC Public School, Jammu Sanskriti and IDPS Jammu participated in the championship.

“We have always believed that sports are an indispensable part of a student’s life and every child should get a platform to discover their hidden talents and for that we have made sure that we have all the facilities at IDPS by providing them a full-fledged Indoor Shooting Range and an Indoor Sports Arena as we strive for the best both in academics and sports,” said Randeep Wazir, Academic Director IDPS, in his welcome adress.

The event was declared open by the chief guest, Balwant Singh Mankotia, President Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party and former MLA in the presence of Guests of Honour, Chanchal Kour, District Officer (DYSS), Special Guests, Jeet Singh, Zonal Officer Physical Education, Rohini Aima, Principal Jammu Sanskriti School and other dignitaries from JKRA- K.S Jamwal, President; Amjad Parveiz General Secretary, Sharat Chander Vice President and Rajesh Virdi Chairman Technical Committee JKRA. Randeep Wazir expressed thanks to Vivek Gupta, Director IDPS, Suminder Singh, Managing Director IDPS, Swaran Singh Choudhary, Managing Director IDPS for being supportive and giving their presence for the event. “We appreciate the staff of IDPS and members of JKRA for supporting this event as this is going to provide an opportunity to the shooting enthusiasts to hone their skills of shooting and will provide them rigorous training sessions to instill the spirit of sportsmanship,” the Chief Guest said.
