Dev Javia, Tanisha Kashyap advance in Junior Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship

Dev Javia and Tanisha Kashyap showed their class in the preliminary round matches of the in the Under-16 boys’ and girls’ categories of the Junior Fenesta Open national tennis championship in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Dev Javia showed tremendous poise and control during his 6-2, 6-0 win against Vaibhav Singh Bisht from Uttar Pradesh in the first round of Under-16 boys’ event. In the second round later in the day, Javia got the better of Ashish Sinha 7-6, 6-1.
“I fought well and I won the match, I know what I need to work for in the next matches. I am gaining confidence in every match and I am getting better by every match. I am hoping for the best,” said Javia.
There was an upset in the boys’ section when Gourav Gulia of Haryana stunned fourth seed Rithvik Choudhary. Gourav won 7-6 (6), 6-4. However, Gulia’s joy was short-lived as he lost in the second round later in the day, going down 2-6, 4-6 against Mann Maulik Shah .
In girls under-16 category, top seed Tansiha Kashyap showed she was in good form and ready for battles ahead as she toyed with Sudipta Senthil Kumar for a 6-0, 6-1 win in the second round.
In under-14 boys’section, top seed Nishant Dabas was in sublime form, outplaying Anmay Yogesh Devaraj 6-1, 6-0. Third seed Krishna Hooda won against Heerak S Vora in straight sets while second seed Udit Gogoi played sharp to tame Arjun N.Gohad 6-4, &-6 (7/3).
There was a seesaw battle in under-14 girls section when top seed Gargi P Pawar played an up and down game before winning 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 against Deepalakshmi Vanaraja.
