DDA U-16 Football: Summerville and DAV clinch top prizesAugust 26, 2019, Delhi, Noida
Two school teams from Noida performed brilliantly in the DDA Under-16 Football Tournament. Sarla Chopra DAV School and Summerville School won the title in the competition. The girls ‘final was won by DAV and the boys’ was won by Summerville School. Summerville became the champion in the under-10s as well. The competition was played at Chilla Sports Ground, Delhi.
There was a thrilling contest between Summerville School and Ashoka Football Club in the boys’ section. Summerville won the match 1-0. Tanmay Prasad scored the lone goal of the match to win the title for Summerville. There was a close fight between the two teams. The thrill of the match remained until the last minute. Ashoka Football Club also got their chances to score goals, but the players could not convert it into goals. In the girls’ title match, DAV won by defeating Bharti School 2-0. Adhika and Anushka scored a goal each, showcasing the brilliant display of skills. The DAV’s team kept the ball under their control for the entire time. The Bharti school tried to equalize, but did not succeed due to lack of coordination among their players.
Summerville defeated Chilla Sports 3–2 in the tiebreaker of the under-10 final. By the full time the two teams were tied 2–2. During this, there was a fierce competition between the two teams. The tiebreaker was resorted for the result of the match. Former players of Delhi Football Association NK Bhatia and former treasurer Hemchand, who were present as the chief guests, encouraged the players. The winner and runners up team were awarded with the trophy.
