CLTA-AITA Tennis Championship: Top seed, VM enters pre quarters

Top seed VM Ranjeet of Tamil Nadu humbled Telangana’s Taha Kapadia in straight sets to seal a spot in the men’s singles pre-quarterfinals at the CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship, in Chandigarh. Ranjeet won 6-3 6-3.
Second seed Dalwinder Singh of Punjab also stormed into the pre-quarterfinals with a facile 6-1 6-2 win over Haryana’s Udit Kamboj. Third seed Jatin Dahiya of Delhi downed Parav Dev Garg of Punjab 6-4 6-1, while fourth seed Suraj Prabodh edged out Uttarakhand’s Drona Walia 6-2 6-3.
Rajasthan’s Faisal Qamar also had an easy outing today. The fifth seed packed off Delhi’s Tushar Madan 6-1 6-4 to secure a place in the last-16.
Chandigarh’s Calvin Golmei stunned sixth seed Anurag Nainwani 6-1 6-4 to stay alive in the competition. Eight seeded Armaan Bhatia of Maharashtra dismissed Tamil Nadu’s Dheeraj KS 6-1 7-5, while Digvijay Singh Mehta beat Puru Upadhyay of Gujarat 7-6(9) 6-2.
