Chess, Carrom Inter-Panchayat competitions held at Doda

The inter-Panchayat Block level competitions in the disciplines of Chess and Carrom being organised by the J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC) in collaboration with the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), here at twin Blocks of Thathri and Chirala in district Doda.
Around 480 students and non-students in both boys and girls sections took part in the competitions held under the guidance of Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO), Thathri, Rakesh Kakkar.
The competition which was witnessed besides others by Sarpanchs and Panchs of different Panchayats held under the chairmanship of Incharge District Officer Doda, Sawarn Singh.
“Around 480 young sports enthusiasts were involved from 17 Panchayats of the two blocks. The finals at Block level took place at Government Boys High School Thathri and Government Higher Secondary School Bhella. At Thathri, Headmaster, Farooq was Special Guest while at Bhella, Principal of the School encouraged the participants,” ZPEO Thathri, Rakesh Kakkar said.

CARROM: Irfan Ahmed (Phagsoo-B) Ist, Arun Kumar (Panthan) 2nd, Shubam Kotwal, (Bhella) 3rd and Shabu Devi (Panthan) 4th.
CHESS: Ratinder Singh (Bhella) Ist, Saksham G Sharma (Thathri-B) 2nd, Asif Mir (Jangalwar) 3rd and Sonali Manhas (Shodot) 4th. The panel of officials comprised Raj Kumar, Mohan Singh, Vikas (all PEM), Raj Kumar, Devinder Kumar and Vidya Devi (all PETs).
