Chandigarh State Ranking Tournament: Day 1

The opening day of the 1st Chandigarh State Ranking Tournament saw some exciting match ups, which is being organised by the Chandigarh Badminton Association, at the Sector 38 (West) Sports Complex in Chandigarh.

In a 55-minute long match of the girls’ U-19 category, Nimanpreet registered a come-from-behind 19-21 21-17 21-11 victory over Shagunpreet to move ahead in the championship.

Meanwhile, in the third round matches of the girls’ U-17 category, Ananya Yadav eased past Jasmeet Kaur 21-19 21-17, while Tanya Sharma beat Harshita Thakur 21-15 21-15. Mannat Saini, a trainee of the Sector 38 Sports Complex, also advanced by defeating Khushi Godara 18-21 21-9 21-14 in yet another tight affair.

Shagunpreet defeated Srishti Madaan 21-9 21-5, while Kanishka was awarded a walk-over against Anugeet Kaur. Samreen Kaur Sandhu also logged a 21-3 21-2 win against Simarpreet Kaur and Mili Verma blanked Tanisha Giri 21-15 21-6. In the last two matches, Nimar Kaur Virk ousted Tejasvin Kaur 21-7 21-6 and Charmie blanked Sonakshi Verma 16-21 21-10 21-11.

Top seed Rakshita Pahwa won an easy match against Divija Diwan 21-5 21-3 in the girls’ U-13 category. Aashtha Sharma also won her third round match against Yashasvi Bhat 21-13 21-17, while Jaskamal Kaur blanked Anika Sharma 21-6 21-9. Amulya Adhikari logged an easy 21-14 21-17 victory against Tanishka Nandal, while Nivedita Singh blanked Navdeep Kaur 21-19 21-19.
