Chandigarh fencers bags Gold at National championship

The Chandigarh fencing team of Mahira Batheja, Ekam Toor, Himani Bhandari and Priyanshi Arora have won the gold medal in the recently concluded 21st Sub-Junior National Fencing Championship in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh.
The side beat defending champions Manipur 44-22 in the final.
Earlier, in the quarterfinals, they registered a 45-19 win over hosts Chhattisgarh, while the side drubbed Maharashtra 45-20 in the semifinals.
Mahira also won a gold medal in the individual category. She defeated M Preethivarshni of Tamil Nadu 15-13 in the final.
Mahira defeated Ekam 15-11 and Charvi 15-8 en route final.
A student of Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, Mahira has also been selected for Khelo India coaching camp.
