Afghanistan Under 17s relied on the experience and composure of their captain Ijaz to make 237 on the first day of the three-day match being held in Greater Noida. Afghanistan Under 17s had won the toss and batted first on what looked like a belter of a pitch. Pundits had predicted that a large score was possible on the batting surface.
However, the captain only found support from the other opener Suliman Arabzai who struck 65 before he was caught when the team’s score was 92. Wickets fell on regular intervals for the hosts
as they bundled out for 237 in 73 overs. Mrittunjoy Chowdhury was the chief destructor for the Bangladesh Under 17s as he took 5 wickets giving away only 39 runs.
In reply, the visitors were 63 for the loss of 2 wickets at stumps on Day 1. The match is poised for an exciting finish.
