BVM students claim places for State Chess tourney

Daman Sharma and Ansh Anand, both students of Class VIII at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) Senior Secondary School, Udham Singh Nagar branch, have been selected to take part in the Punjab State Schools Chess Tournament.

The duo along with three other students of the school, namely Bisman Singh, Ridham Jain and Hitesh Sharma, took part in the Ludhiana District Inter-School Chess Competition held at Sri Guru Hargobind Public School, Pakhowal Road, wherein they secured second position and won the silver medal for their school.

As many as 25 teams from different schools competed in this tournament organised by the District Education Department on September 26 and 27. BVM students finished as runners-up in the boys U-14 category.

Bandana Sharma, principal of the school, congratulated the students and their coach Baljeet Singh Gill on this achievement. She wished them success in the state championship.
