Telangana’s Shriyanshi Valishetty overpowered third seed Haryana’s Devika Sihag to march ahead into the girls’ U-19 final on the penultimate day of the Yonex-Sunrise 29th Smt Krishna Khaitan All-India Junior (U-19) Ranking Badminton Tournament. Shriyanshi recovered after losing first game (13-21) to make a (22-20, 21-7) comeback in the next two games.
In another major upset, Maharashtra’s Tara Shah ousted second seed Haryana’s Anupama Upadhyaya (21-17, 21-19). In one of the boys’ U-19 semis, sixth seed Sanskar Saraswat defeated Karnataka’s Nicholas Nathan Raj (19-21, 21-18, 21-13).
The pair of Arulmurugan R and Srinidhi N outplayed Sathwik Reddy K and Vaishnavi Khadkekar (11-21, 21-18, 21-18) to move into the mixed doubles final. They will be facing Hari Bharathi B and Dhanyaa N, who defeated Mayank Rana and Nardhana VR (17-21, 21-16, 27-25) in the final. Shreya Balaji and Srinidhi N easily defeated Neysa Cariappa A and Taneesha Singh (21-11, 21-12) to confirm their girls’ U-19 doubles title clash berth.
In the second semis, Gayathri Rani Jaiswal and Karnika Sree S overpowered a tough challenge by Navya Kanderi and Rakshitha Sree S (17-21, 21-10, 21-19). In the boys’ U-19 doubles semis, Uneeth Krishna BV and Shashank Chhetri outplayed Nicholas Nathan Raj and Tushar Suveer (21-16, 21-17), while Uneeth Krishna BV and Shashank Chhetri defeated Nicholas Nathan Raj and Tushar Suveer (21-16, 21-17).
