The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) will introduce Assam Premier League from next year with a total of six teams to take part in the franchise based tournament which will be held in T20 format. Addressing the media on Sunday, ACA secretary Devajit Saikia said that a Special Governing Council which has already been constituted will conduct the Assam Premier League.

Apart from ACA president Ramen Dutta, the other members of the newly constituted council are secretary Devajit Saikia, treasurer Tridib Konwar, CEO Sujit Kakati, Tapash Chakraborty and Rajdeep Oja. One post, which is reserved for players’ association, is left open and it would be filled as per the suggestions from the BCCI.

Meanwhile to promote cricket at the grassroots level, the ACA will organise an inter-school cricket championship next year. The association also decided to host the second edition of the Assam Premier Club Championship in February next year.
