Asian Games 2018: 16-yr-old, Farmer’s Son, Saurabh Chaudhary beats former Shooting World Champion to clinch Gold

Saurabh Chaudhary marking his debut in the senior-level shooting competition at the International-Level shooting tournament showcased calmness and maturity just like a professional to snatch dominance over 2010 World Champion Tomoyuki Matsuda of Japan with 24 shot final in penultimate shot of Asian Games 2018.

Shooting requires lots of practice in-combination with great back-up of financial support from the family in order to gain exposure at national and international level. Saurabh with firm determination on his capability grabbed the fame beyond his age. Success of the son of farmer based in the remote Kalina Viilage of Meerut gave us the strong message that the future of Indian shooting is under the responsibility of good sporting figures.

At just 16 yr of age, Saurabh has become only fifth shooting champion from India to claim gold medal in the history of Asian Games.

The Action of the Final

Chaudhary attempting his final shoot for the event aggregated record points of 240.7. While 42-year-old counterpart Matsuda representing Japan misfired 23rd shot in the crucial game and settled for Silver with score 239.7.

Chaudhary not only performed with great calm in the final, the boy showed great skill and no sign of nervousness in the qualification round. The boy bossed the qualification round with mammoth 586 points aim and finding a sure shot spot in the final listing of players in the particular game.

Saurabh Chaudhary has grabbed his skills in the shooting events for different categories at the Amit Sheroan’s Academy located at Benoli near Baghpat. The remote Indian district is located 53 km away from the hometown of the boy.

The teenager boy from Meerut region has not only grabbed solo gold medal for India at the shooting event. With ace performance in the final match, the boy now holds record for aiming national record.

Coach of the young boy had already mentioned in past that after his performance at the junior World Cup with world record mark in final, he had great expectations from the young boy. But none of the Asian Games officials have ever imagined that the young shooter will dominate the achievement likes of great shooters Jaspal Rana, Ranshir Singh, Ronjan Sodhi and Jitu Rai to credit India’s solo gold in the shooting event.
