The Asian cities chess championship opens here on Saturday. Eleven teams are in the fray, with four of them from the host nation.

Of the four, Bhubaneswar, which includes players like Swayams Mishra, Rakesh Kumar Jena and Kiran Manisha Mohanty, is the best bet in a tournament featuring mostly lower-rated players.

The two teams from Iran are expected to include strong players.

The other countries taking part are Malaysia, Bangladesh, Oman, UAE and Chinese Taipei.
