Anna Patial has won a bronze medal in the taekwondo competition at the 64th National School Games held in Manipur. Anna, who trains at ONYX Taekwondo Academy in Baltana, won the medal in the 14kg category. Coach Satinder Singh appreciated Anna’s performance and said the budding athlete had a long way to go. TNS

Golfer Bismad emerges winner

Chandigarh: Bismad Singh scored a gross total of 75 to clinch the overall title in the 18th Holes Open Golf Championship held at the Chandigarh Golf Club here on Saturday. Man Udey Singh finished second, while Rakesh Jolly claimed the third spot. In the handicap 0-9 category, Shivy Mundi won the top spot with a card of 36. JS Bakshi (34) bagged the second position. Lt Gen DP Singh (42) and Bachhiter Singh (42) claimed the top-two positions, respectively, in the handicap 10-18 category, while Col HS Brar (46) topped the list in the handicap 19-24 category. He was followed by Binny Batth (42) in second place. JS Kesar bagged the first position in the above 75-80 years age-group. GS Ruppal finished second. Shamsher Singh topped the 80+ age-group.
