Anjum Mudgal added to India’s tally at the ISSF World Cup on Friday with a silver in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 position competition. After Manu Bhaker’s heroics just two days earlier, this provided another reason to celebrate for Indian fans.

The Chandigarh girl was in medal contention from the start, eventually falling behind China’s Ruijiao Pei 455.4 to 454.2 after the 45-shot final. On a day where there were many handbrakes for other contenders, Anjum’s performance came as a sigh of relief for India.

This India’s best performance at the ISSF World Cup in its history. The country finished with a total of 8 medals including 3 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze. The 50m Rifle 3 position competition requires competitors to shoot from kneeling, prone and standing positions. The cumulative score at the end determines the rankings.
Fans would be hoping to see Anjum’s winning smile at the Gold Coast events as well.
