All India Civil Services: Priyanka crushes Delhi NCT’s Amita to claim Gold

Priyanka Gire of Maharashtra defeated Amita Kumari of NCT Delhi to win the gold medal in the women’s 50kg category on the second day of the All India Civil Services Wrestling Championship at the Mani Majra Sports Complex in Chandigarh yesterday.
Jagwanti of CS Delhi bagged the bronze medal. She beat Haryana’s Preeti in the playoff.
In the women’s 53kg final, Priyanka Yerudkar of Maharashtra got the better of Jyoti of CS Delhi. Haryana’s Sharda beat Kiran of NCT Delhi to claim the third position.
Haryana’s Mamta humbled Devika of CS Delhi in the 55kg title bout. Sarwwati Sahu of Chhattisgarh finished third after beating Amrit Kaur of NCT Delhi.
Anita, also from Haryana, won the gold medal in the 57kg class. She defeated Meenu Dabas of NCT Delhi in the final. Pushpalatha of Karnataka overcame Sarabjeet of CS Delhi in the bronze-medal playoff.In the women’s 59kg category, Haryana’s Manju beat Sanjeeta of CS Delhi to claim the gold medal. Savita of NCT Delhi took home the bronze after beating Karnataka’s Manjamma.
Another Haryana wrestler, Rachna, topped the podium in the 62kg category. She outwitted Alpana Kariti of CS Delhi in the final. Chethana R of Karnataka beat Hyatt Dhariwal of NCT Delhi to claim the bronze medal.
Roshni Devi of Haryana claimed the gold medal in the 65kg category. She defeated Preeti of CS Delhi in the final. Kiran Sudan of NCT Delhi finished third.DIG, Chandigarh, Omvir Singh Bishnoi along with Sports Director Tejdeep Singh Saini and District Sports Officer Ravinder Singh later awarded the winners.
