AITA Talent series: Aryan & Umang cruises into Semis

Aryan Jolly ousted third seed Kanvarpreet Singh in a nail-biting match to march ahead into the boys’ U-14 semifinals in the Roots AITA Talent Series (TS7) National Ranking Championship here today. Jolly won the first set 6-2 to push Kanwarpreet to the back foot. However, the third seed rallied strongly by winning the next set 5-7. In the final set, both players fought hard, but Jolly made it to the next round by registering a 6-4 victory.

Umang Singh Cogi also moved into the semifinals by defeating Gurbaaz Singh 6-2 6-2. In other quarterfinal matches, Harwin Singh blanked Anuj Pal 6-2 6-0 and Hardik Khanduja logged a one-sided 6-3 6-1 win over Harveer Singh.

Meanwhile, Aksh Jood registered a comeback victory over Gopal Jee to move into the boys’ U-12 semis. Jood lost the first set 4-6 but raised his game in the second and third sets to register a 7-5 6-4 win and enter the last-4 stage. Vansh Sharma blanked second seed Tanishq Jood 6-2 7-6(3) in another quarterfinal match.

In the girls’ U-14 category pre-quarters, top seed Mehak Gupta defeated Akshada Sharma 6-2 6-4. Kundilya also marched ahead by defeating Kanishka Vashisht 6-1 6-2 and Ayushi Prajapat ousted Rewa Dixit 6-4 6-3. Kaur won a tough tie against Akshita Vashist 5-7 7-510-7), while Radha blanked Tanisha 6-0 6-0 without conceding a single game. Mittal made a strong comeback against Poonam, winning 1-6 6-210-5), while Isheeta Midha defeated Sidhak Kaur 6-3 6-3.
