AITA Championship: Simran & Radhika cruises into Semi-Final

Top seed Simran Pritam lived up to her billing as she packed off fifth seed Riya Kaushik in a lop-sided contest to seal a berth in the girls’ U-18 semifinals at the CLTA-AITA Championship Series (CS-7) Tennis Tournament in Chandigarh yesterday. Simran won 6-3 6-0.
Second seed Radhika Vasudeva registered a 6-4 6-3 win over eighth seed Vanya Arora, while sixth seed Harnoor Kaur Sidhu drubbed Avneet Kaur 6-0 6-1 in the quarterfinals. Seventh seed Pawandeep Kaur stunned fourth seed Mehar Kohali 6-3 6-4.
In the boys’ U-18 competition, sixth seed Naresh Badgujar created a flutter as he ousted top seed Jitin Kumar Chetry in the quarterfinals. Badgujar won 6-0 6-1.
Navya Verma upset fourth seed Dhairya Chadha 6-0 6-0, while second seed Sarthak Gandhi downed fifth seed Harmanjot Singh 6-3 6-2. Eighth seed Sarthak Arora humbled Anirudh Sangra 7-5 6-4.
