Three outstanding players of the State namely Devank Sharma, Arnav Verma and Antriksha Rekhi, left for Singapore to take part in International Pencak Silat Championship-2019. They were selected for this international event after clearing the trial at under sub-junior and pre-teen category National Pencak Silat Championship held at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.
These three players, who won gold medals in their categories at Bhopal, were given a send off at BJP office by State General Secretary Yudhvir Sethi, State Secretary Arvind Gupta and other leaders by presenting Chunari and mementos to further boost their morale.
Yudhvir Sethi, on this occasion, said that it is indeed a matter of pride for the State that these teenaged players are not only excelling in sports but also doing well and standing meritorious in their studies.
Sethi said that their selection for an international sports event will also inspire other youngsters to devote their time in sports, which can enable them to earn honour at national and international levels and also bring laurels to their home State. He expressed hope that these players will return back with medals.
He also appreciated the role of their coaches Karan Chopra and Komal Dhiman.
Sethi shared with these players that PM Narendra Modi is himself taking keen interest to promote sports and encourage the upcoming players. For this ‘Khelo India’ scheme is doing well and providing platform to the youngsters in the country, he added.
