13-Year-Old Prithu Gupta becomes Grand Master as well as International Grandmaster

Delhiite Prithu Gupta created history during the Gibraltar Masters tournament as he cleared the GM norm at just the age of 13. To become an International Grandmaster however the participant had to cross the 2400 ELO Rating.

An eight standard student of Modern School Vasant Vihar, Prithu is cuurently at 2450 points, thereby clearing the IM norm. The Delhi Chess Association and the All India Chess Federation facilitated him for his achievements. His victims include French GM Fabien Libiszewski, and a hat-trick of draws against GMs Anna Muzychuk (Ukraine), Svane Rasmus (Germany) and Perez Ponsa Federico (Argentina).
