Karate originated as the common fighting system among the Pechin Class. Following it, trade relationships were established by King Satto of Chuzan with Ming dynasty in 1372, Chinese martial arts were introduced by visitors from China.
 
In 1392, a large group of Chinese families relocated to Okinawa and shared their knowledge about varied Chinese arts, sciences and martial arts. In 1917, Japan demonstrated the Karate for the first time.
 
On the basis of different forms of Karate:
 
* Goju-ryu was played for the first time in 1930.
* Shito-ryu was played for the first time in 1928.
* Shotokan was played for the first time in 1938.
* Wado-ryu was played for the first time in 1939.

As per the records, Karate for men was first held in Tokyo, Japan in 1970 and for women, it was held in 1984.
