What is a Triple-double in terms of athletics and why is it considered so difficult?
A triple-double is a double backflip with three twists. This means that a player has to jump to an estimated 10 foot into the air and rotate on the two axis at the same time. On an axis going through, player hips should rotate twice, whilst rotating on the other, stretching from their head to toe, three times. This has to be performed in a tucked position, with players knees pulled tightly to their chest.
Just to clarify, this skill is very hard like really really hard to pull up.
To put the above statement in perspective a Triple-double is provisionally ranked 1.0, which is the highest difficulty ever awarded to a skill. A single backflip is worth 0.1 points, a double is worth 0.4 and a double double is 0.8. So now you know what a Triple-double is ‘worth’ in Gymnastics.
