This relies completely upon your financial plan. The little size spares cash. The greater size gives moment delight. But remember, if you plant a big perennial, the soil around the roots will be lighter than the garden soil, so the plant will dry out more quickly. Give it extra water until the roots grow into the surrounding soil.
