International exposure to kabaddi came in 1936 at the Berlin Olympics where it was demonstrated by an Indian institute named Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal (HVPM) during the Hitler regime. A 35 member contingent left everyone awestruck and mesmerised by their performance at the event. Owing to their performance, they were awarded a medal at the concluding day of the Berlin Olympics.
