From which country has Sitar originated?
Sitar is a plucked stringed instrument and is considered to be an expression of one’s unique soul that is portrayed through the performance.
Sitar is considered to be a traditional, classical instrument of the Indian sub continent and emerged in the 13th century. Thus, it can be said that Sitar originated in India and is a dominant instrument used in Hindustani Classical Music.
It has been prevalent in India for past 700 years and is said to have been modernized from Persian Sehtar by Amir Khusruo in the 18th century.
Not only is Sitar predominant in India, it is said to be equally ubiquitous in Pakistan and Middle East countries.
