From which country has orchestra originated?
A group of musicians playing different musical instruments together, in fusion, is termed as Orchestra. There are two types of Orchestra- symphony orchestra comprising of almost 100 players and chamber orchestra in which 30 to 40 players play together.
The semi circular stage in front of the Greek Theatres where the musicians played gave its name to Orchestra. Later on the musicians themselves started being called as Orchestra.
It is difficult to state which country orchestra originated from. But if only a family of instruments played together could be considered as orchestra then an orchestra of 24 violins was first played in front of King Louis XIII, in Paris in 1626.
Slowly and gradually the orchestra changed its form in 18th and 19th century and introduced instruments from all families be it string, wind, percussion or brass.
