An approximate of 6000 stars can be seen by an unaided eye. From a rural area it might be possible to see as many as 2000 and from an urban area somewhere around 20. With the rotation of Earth, the stars also appear and disappear from a side yet a few stars that are visible from the Earth are- 
 
Sirius known as Dog Star is the brightest star (distance from Earth 8.6 light years ) 

Canopus, second brightest star ( distance from Earth 74 light years )  

Rigil Kentaurus also known as Alpha Centauri is the third brightest star (distance from Earth 4.3 light years) 

Arcturus, fourth brightest star in the night sky and the brightest in the Northern Hemisphere Constellation, Bootes (distance from Earth 34 light years) 

Vega, fifth brightest star about 25 light years away from Earth means ‘the swooping Eagle’ 

Capella, yellow Giant star much bigger than the Sun and at a distance of 41 light years away from Earth 

Rigel is placed in constellation Orion, is the seventh brightest star in the night sky and at a distance of 1400 light years away from Earth.  

Procyon, a yellow white star, closer to Earth and 11.4 light years away from Earth 

Achernar, 69 light years away from the Earth is a bluish white, white super giant star 

Betelgeuse  red super giant star, 13000 times brighter than our sun, 1400 light years away from Earth
